Fat loss is, and always has been, one of the most common “fitness goals”. If you ask around, you’ll find that most people are on a weight-loss journey of some kind!
Consequently, there is every diet, fat burner, weight-loss shake, slim bar, and magic fat loss potion known to man, available for our consumption. This makes it hard to, firstly, find a product suited to your specific goals. And secondly, to find one that isn’t a gimmick…. Or too toxic!
In this article, I’m going to do a complete review of one of these fat burner products for you, RSP’s QuadraLean Thermogenic Fat Burner.
Let me introduce you to this product.
QuadraLean Thermogenic General Overview
Before we get into the nitty-gritty, I want to give you a quick overview of what QuadraLean Thermogenic is.
It is produced by RSP – a supplement company founded by former athletes. This product comes in the form of capsules and promotes weight loss through suppressed appetite, increased metabolism, and boosted energy levels. This fat burner does contain stimulants, but its caffeine is derived from natural substances.
You can read about the stimulant vs. stimulant free fat burner debate, here.
QuadraLean was built upon an idea of providing ‘clean energy’. Each of its carefully chosen ingredients has a specific purpose, and are fully disclosed, allowing you to have better control over your supplement stack and not have to guess what you may be consuming.
QuadraLean Thermogenic consists of 4 blends – weight loss, energy, thermogenesis and neuro. These blends are made up of 8 ingredients. In this section, I’m going to tell you what they are, but also what they do.
CLA (Conjugated Linoleic Acid)
Each serving of this product contains 500mg of Conjugated Linoleic Acid.
CLA is a natural fatty acid, a “good fat”, found in low doses in meat and dairy products. Studies have determined that CLA improves metabolism and immune function. Further to this, studies have found that CLA may be beneficial in cancer, diabetes and arthritis prevention.
CLA is believed to aid weight-loss, moreover, fat loss; whilst promoting lean mass retention.
It also has antioxidant properties and may help control blood sugar levels.
All the above features of CLA make it a popular choice of ingredient for fat loss products, and one of the headliners of QuadraLean.
QuadraLean Thermogenic contains a 500mg dosage of L-Carnitine-Tartrate
L-Carnitine-Tartrate is an amino acid (derivative) naturally found in fish, red meat and dairy. It is widely trusted to enhance athletic performance, and in a fat loss-friendly way, by encouraging your body to source energy stocks from fat.
This ingredient is often found contained within fat loss supplements but is also used on its own as a concentrate. Our body can produce its own L-Carnitine-Tartrate out of different amino acids but in low doses.
Fatty acids are transported from the blood, by the “L-Carnitine” nutrient, into the mitochondria, our energy “engine rooms”, where they are converted into energy.
The recommended dosage of this ingredient in fat burners is between 500mg and 2000mg, so this product is sitting at the bottom end of the dosage scale with this ingredient.
Green Tea Extract (Caffeine)
Each serving of this product contains 200mg of caffeine from Green Tea extract
Most of us already know what caffeine does – it gives you energy, which in turn can boost your metabolism and help you burn additional calories.
Caffeine, in excessive amounts (or if you have a sensitivity to it) can make it difficult to sleep or give you the jitters.
Some fat burners have up to 300mg of caffeine in them, so this one is on the slightly milder end of the scale, which is not necessarily a bad thing!
QuadraLean Thermogenic contains a 300mg dosage of Choline Bitartrate.
This ingredient is an essential nutrient that is necessary for health. It is found in soybeans, egg yolks, fish, beef and chicken.
Choline plays an important role in the communications between the brain, nerves, and organs. This ingredient is claimed to promote athletic performance, improve memory, regulate mood swings, decrease blood pressure, and protect the liver from damage.
The recommended daily dose of Choline is 1g, and this supplement contains 300mg per serving, which makes it quite significantly under dosed.
Alpha GPC 50%
Each serving of this product contains 50mg of Alpha-Gylcero-Phospho-Choline. The “50%” refers to the choline specific weight of the compound.
Alpha-Gylcero-Phospho-Choline is a compound ingredient known for increasing power output, promoting cognitive function, and helping support cellular membranes.
A standard dosage, as found commonly on fat burner labels, is between 300mg to 600mg. Again, this product is seriously under dosed in terms of this ingredient.
Grains of Paradise
The name gets me every time!
QuadraLean Thermogenic contains 25mg of this ingredient per serving.
Grains of Paradise can be compared to peppercorns in appearance. They are a spice from the West Coast of Africa. This ingredient contains a few active compounds that have been reported to increase energy expenditure.
They aid in fat burn, not only by increasing your energy expenditure, but also by encouraging the decrease of visceral fat, specifically in the lower abdomen. Visceral fat is particularly hard to shift – you can read more about it here.
It’s said that as little as a 40mg dosage can produce the desired effects. This product only has 25mg, though it is not the only thermogenic ingredient on QuadraLean’s list.
Cayenne Pepper Fruit Extract
In each serving of QuadraLean you will find 25mg of this ingredient.
You will see Cayenne Pepper on the ingredient list of many fat burners, due to its thermogenic effects. This ingredient contains capsaicinoids which are responsible for the thermogenesis, and therefore, increased fat loss.
Cayenne Pepper Fruit extract can suppress appetite, which is helpful whilst chasing weight loss goals.
This ingredient is one of my favorite fat burning ingredients, and I usually reach for the fat burner with a high dosage of it. Unfortunately, this product only contains 25mg. Considering there are fat burners with 100mg of Cayenne Pepper out there, this is disappointing.
There are other ingredients found within QuadraLean, though they are mostly for longevity and digestion purposes. The other ingredients present in this product are:
Gelatine, Dicalcium Phosphate, Plant Cellulose, Magnesium Stearate, Silicone Dioxide and Titanium Dioxide.
Effectiveness in Summary
So, we know what QuadraLean is and what’s in it. But, does it work? People are skeptical about fat burners, with good reason; most of them claim to be magic, miracle potions – and mostly, aren’t.
QuadraLean has an impressive ingredient list which ticks a lot of boxes, though the dosages are, in most cases, low.
I have done a lot of reading and research to get an insight into the opinions of the users of this product. And here’s what I found:
- Users of this product say that they like this specific combination of ingredients all in one capsule, as it addresses more than only their fat loss needs in each serving.
- Common feedback on this product was that users did not experience jitters or post energy boost crashes! There were not many reports of people feeling too “wired” using this fat burner.
- Most users of QuadraLean report good increases in energy levels.
- Some users of this product claimed to see significant reduction in weight, whereas some only reported minor change in weight or body fat content.
When it comes to side-effects, it really does depend on the individual user’s specific make up.
There were few reports of side-effects experienced in connection with the use of QuadraLean Thermogenic, but a few users stated that they experienced mild side effects. For example, sweating and slight nervousness/anxiety.
Choline Bitartrate is sometimes known to cause stomach aches or loose stools, though this didn’t seem to be noted amongst users of this product.
I hope this article gives you a good insight into RSP’s QuadraLean Thermogenic.
No two people are the same and the response to different fat burners will be widely varied amongst a group of people. Often, it comes down to trial and error to find one that works optimally for you.
Overall, this product seems to tick a lot of the boxes, in terms of ingredients.
There’s no doubt that the dosages are on the lower side of things. However, it seems that this is a reason why it is the preferred fat burner of some users.
It’s nothing over the top – and a safe option. Overall, people seem to like it. Though, if you’re looking for a hardcore, big deal fat burner then I’m not sure this is the product for you.
Another thing to keep in mind, is fat burners are not a quick fix, or magical solution to weight-loss. Fat burners may be effective in conjunction with exercise and a clean, healthy diet with appropriate macro nutrition.
